Spring Burst

The yellow crocuses are up in my yard. The purple ones will follow soon. Everything is about to burst. Winter was genuinely inward: quiet, research-heavy, absorbing. Spring feels like the opposite, a season full of work coming into view, conversations beginning, and momentum that has been building since January suddenly visible.

In the studio

The past few months have been shaped by two very different energies running in parallel. The first: finishing the figurative work for Multitudes, a small group exhibition opening this month at The Gallery at Yellow Studio. These layered monotypes and collages on handmade paper, some colored with acorn ink and some with avocado dye, examine shared bodily experiences and deliberately push against classical conventions of representing the female form.

The second has been research. I've been building out a conceptual lineage for the lichen project that will carry me through 2026 and into 2027, tracing the artists, scientists, philosophers, and texts whose thinking about interdependence and symbiosis informs where my work is headed. My CritLab mentor gave it the perfect name, a "family tree." The exhibition is still forming, but the roots are going down.

Curatorial work

Evident Nature, my first open-call exhibition at The Idea Kitchen, has been quietly humming along since its February 2nd opening and has been well-received, with a few works sold. The show runs through April 30th, with an artists' talk on April 22nd featuring Carol Bouyoucos, Caroline Guilbert, Rita Leduc, and Jocelyn Russell. Just around the corner: Soft Geometry opens at The Idea Kitchen on May 4th, featuring four women artists.

Looking toward summer

Studio visits are open. If you're curious about work in progress, I'd love to have you. The lichen research has the studio feeling more like a reading room than a making space at the moment, but that's how it should be. The making will come.
